Are all portable chargers wireless?
There are three types of portable chargers. The first is a traditional power bank that connects to your phone using cables. The second type is one that charges wirelessly, transferring charge using a magnetic field. And finally, the third type lets you connect either with cables or wirelessly, so you can charge multiple devices at once.
How do wireless chargers work?
Wireless chargers work through the scientific magic of magnetic induction. They use an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between devices. The coils in the charger share energy with the coils inside the device. The result? Your battery gets powered up.
Can I bring a portable charger on a plane? What size can I take?
Yes, you can bring your portable charger with you when you travel, but it has to be packed in your carry-on bag. It cannot be stored in your checked baggage. Most airlines allow you to bring two large, spare batteries (up to 160 watt hour). You should always check with your airline carrier regarding their guidelines before going to the airport.
Are portable wireless chargers safe or bad for my phone?
You'll be happy to know that portable wireless chargers are generally safe to use. They don't affect your battery any more than a traditional charger. But here’s a good tip for you: If you're looking to preserve your battery, make sure it's always at least 10% charged. On the other hand, don't over-charge it either. Keeping it at 80% charged helps extend the life of your battery.
Do portable chargers come charged?
It all depends on which charger you choose. Some come pre-charged while others need to be charged before you use them. Check the packaging to find out.
How long do portable chargers take to charge my phone?
Battery life and charge time vary depending on your phone usage, but it can usually take up to 1-2 hours for chargers with a smaller battery (2,000 mAh) and up to 3-4 hours for those with a larger one (10,000 mAh).

Which iPhones can charge wirelessly?
If you're looking to charge wirelessly, you'll need iPhone 8 or later. If you have iPhone 12 or later, you can use a MagSafe charger.
Can I use my old charger and cables for my new iPhone?
Yes, as long as you're using a Lightning cable, your old charger should work. The Lightning cable doesn't have to be new, either.
Does the latest iPhone come with a charger?
Yes, the latest iPhone comes with a charger. When you buy iPhone 14, you get a USB-C-to-Lightning cable. One note: you'll need your own charging adapter.
How much are iPhone chargers, and are there other brands that work with iPhone?
Many brands make chargers that work with your iPhone. If you have an older model iPhone, you can use a 5 W charger that usually starts around $4. If you have an iPhone 12, iPhone SE (3rd generation) or newer phone, you'll want a power adapter that has a minimum power output of 20 W for faster charging. You can choose the Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter or opt for another brand with the same wattage. These usually run under $40.
